Fantasy Basketball

Fantasy Basketball is a game that is played by taking the stats of NBA players during their games, and using these stats against other teams. Fantasy basketball was based off of fantasy baseball, and become much more popular when the internet was invented. You can play fantasy basketball on websites like NBA, ESPN, or Yahoo Sports. I personally play on Yahoo because i have an account, so it makes it a lot easier for me.
This is an example of a roster with the average stats of each player.
Fantasy basketball consists of 10 people competing in one league against each other. Players are often called GMs because they are managing their own teams. Every person will go through a draft in a random order to select players of their liking until each player has a roster of 13 players. Every week, a player will be pitted against another player to see who has the better team. The points for each team are based on field goal percentage, free-throw percentage, points, three-pointers made, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and turnovers.
The actual players in the NBA will have their games every week, and the actual stats that they get in each game will translate over to the stats on your yahoo fantasy points. Ever day you can only play 10 people, so you have to be very wise when choosing people to play if there are more than 10 people that day. At the end of the week, whoever has more points in each of the 9 categories wins. For example, if Bob only has more points and rebounds than Tim, then the score would be 2-7, in Tim's favor. After a certain amount of weeks, the top 6 with the most wins are put into a playoff round, where it is a one week elimination. The person left standing at the end wins the league. To make things very interesting, people usually pay about money at the beginning of the league and the winner of the league wins the all money.
Usually, my friends and i play like this because it is fun. This game is all about knowing the players and constantly updating your roster because of injuries or trades. This game involves a lot of skill and thinking because it teaches you to make wise decisions with your players. This game also requires a lot of knowledge on the sport because you obviously have to know who to pick and who drop. I definitely recommend this to all sports lovers.

Info- There is no website because i learned about this on NBA TV and from personal experience of playing fantasy basketball.

  1. I agree it does require skill and thinking to be good at fantasy basketball, that's why I'm in first place in the league that I'm in.
